Sewaktu kelas Medical and Urban Entomology baru2 ni, saya tertarik dengan satu cerita daripada lecturer saya tentang politik dalam sains.
pertama : lets talk about lipas. ada dua spesies lipas yang plg biasa d jumpai d malaysia iaitu american cockroach dan german cockroach. selama kitorng blaja, walaupn prnah trtanya2 knapa lipas2 ni d namakan sedemikian namun sikap kte sndiri yg tdk cuba untuk mencari dr mn dtgnya nama 2 dn membiarkan tanda tanya ttp mnjd tnda tnya. namun kami d beritahu bahawa nama dua spesies lipas ni d dapati smasa prg dingin selepas perang dunia kedua dahulu yg mn kuasa bsr amerika bergaduhan dgn jerman yg sewaktu itu zaman adolf hitler. sewaktu perang ini berlansung jerman menghadapi masalah dengan populasi lipas yang banyak. jerman menamakan lipas-serangga perosak ini sebagai american cockroach bersempena nama musuh mereka ketika itu. begitu juga sebaliknya dgn pihak amerika. terdapat juga sejenis lipas lg yg d pggl australian cockroach. cerita d sebalik penamaan lipas ini insyaallah akan sy kupas dr semasa ke semasa.
hmmm...kedua : termites ataupun anai2. once upon a time, termites was classified as insect in the order of isoptera. but recently research on 2007 had prove that termites is actually categorized under the order of blattodea (cockroach). it means here that termites are the outcomes of the evolutionary of cockroach 4 a long2 time ago. it is proved that they are the epifamily of cockroach. but, the extremist of termites (isoptera) cannot except it. there are cases which includes the publishes of the writings from researcher, lecturer etc which were blocked,edited n refused because of the extremism of the order isoptera. my lecturer said 'thats politic anyway'. the truth and the evidence are there. they are just waiting for us to accept and to believe in them.
